| STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT This project begins my future as an artist and educator of mental illness, as well as reflecting a major milestone in my recovery process. My goal is to use art as a way to raise awareness about mental illness and engage people in conversations that are not whispered in secrecy. I am committed to developing this project into a traveling exhibit in an effort to weave lives together in a world that often makes us feel so alone. I hope to visit schools and hospitals with my shows and eventually lead community workshops, teaching others how to use art to express emotion in a process of self-discovery, healing and growth. Additionally, I plan to include other people’s artwork in future shows, creating a community of people linked together by artistic expression and hope. amy :) 2005 |
